Atletico Madrid striker Radamel Falcao has admitted that he would like to play in a different league at some point in his career.

The Colombian striker is hot property after a goal scoring run that has saw him rub shoulders with the likes of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo at the top of the La Liga scoring charts.

Prolific

Falcao has been a prolific scorer of goals throughout his career, in Europe with Porto and Atletico Madrid and in Argentina with River Plate. The 26 year-old has netted 17 goals this season, after finding the net 24 times in the Spanish top flight last season.

His form has earned him the reputation as one of the world’s top number nines in the world. His form has attracted the interest of a host of clubs, including Premier League Chelsea and Manchester City.

Rivals

According to reports city rivals Real Madrid are set to try and steal the striker away from their rivals. Any potential deal would depend on the future of Real boss Jose Mourinho, who could be leaving the Bernabeu this summer.

Clause

The Colombian international has a minimum fee release clause of £48million in his contract. That would mean that Atleti would be powerless to stop him leaving the Vicente Calderon, although Falcao hasn’t stated that he is unhappy in Madrid.

Atletico Madrid are second in La Liga above rivals Real Madrid and are likely to be in the Champions League next season. The prospect of playing in Europe’s elite competition may not even prove enough to keep him.

Summer

Falcao has been linked with a move in January, but a summer move is more likely. Falcao is without doubt one of the hottest players in world football and unfortunately it doesn’t look like Atleti will be able to keep hold of their star player.
