Premier League — 30 November 2012

Manchester City and Manchester United will both be hoping to be top of the Premier League by the end of the weekend.

United are leading their arch-rivals by just a point and face a trip to second from bottom Reading in Saturday’s late kick-off.

The Red Devils claimed a 1-0 victory over West Ham at Old Trafford on Wednesday night. However, their performance was lacklustre. United boss Sir Alex Ferguson will be pleased that his defence have finally kept a clean sheet though.

The visitors head into this clash on the back of a 1-0 defeat at relegation rivals Aston Villa. The defeat left the Royals four points away from safety and looking in desperate need of points.

Manchester City will be expecting a tough game as Everton come to visit the Etihad Stadium. City won 2-0 at Wigan on Wednesday and could temporarily take top spot with victory over David Moyes men.

Everton are going through a tricky period of late. The Toffees have lost just one game in their last eight outings, but have also won just one. Everton have drawn six of their last eight games, including a 1-1 draw with Arsenal last time out.

Tottenham visit London rivals Fulham hoping to move into fourth place. Tottenham have won the last two Premier League games. Spurs defeated Liverpool 2-1 at White Hart Lane on Wednesday night to move above Everton and Arsenal in the table.

The home side meanwhile haven’t won in six games. A goalless draw at Chelsea in their last outing will give Martin Jol’s men hope that there is better to come in the coming weeks though. The Cottagers head into this clash without key man Bryan Ruiz.
