Benfica director, Manuel Rui Costa, managed a coup by signing Argentine winger Eduardo Salvio from Atletico Madrid. The deal was struck last night.
This is a great signing for Benfica as they signed a very talented player at only twenty two years of age. Salvio started his career in Argentina at Lanus. In 2012 he moved to Europe to sign for Atletico Madrid for a significant fee of 10 million euros. Although very talented he still didn’t meet expectations therefore he was loaned out to Portuguese side, Benfica. At Benfica he enjoyed a better situation as he found the net on a more regular basis. His good performances led Atletico Madrid to taking back the youngster at the end of the season. Last season was better than the first six months he spent at Atletico Madrid but the difficult financial situation of the Spanish club led them to sell him to Benfica.
