Anzhi Makhachkala, one of the richest football clubs in the world, has decided to change their spending policy and sell all their high earning players including Samuel Eto’o that with an annual salary of 20 million euros is the highest paid footballer on the planet. This change in direction has been confirmed by Anzhi’s president, Konstantin Remchukov that said to the Russian press: “There will be a reorganization, many of our best players will leave Anzhi. The annual budget will lower to 50-70 million euros.”
According to Sport Express, the reason behind this decision is the health problems the owner, rich magnate Suleiman Kerimov, of the club is facing. Anzhi also informed their players that they will not stand in their way should they want to leave, the club will not be demanding high price tags for them. Most probably the firsts players to leave the club would be Samuel Eto’o, Lacina Traorè and Willian. Others that will most probably follow suit are the Russian internationals such as Igor Denisov, Alexander Kokorin e Yury Zhirkov.
In the meantime Anzhi found Guus Hiddink’s substitute in Gadzhi Gadzhiev who left Krylya Sovetov.
