Premier League — 20 April 2013

Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson could claim another Premier League title on Monday nightThe Premier League games on Sunday and Monday could have a big effect on both ends of the table.

The early kick-off on Sunday sees Champions League chasing Tottenham host reigning champions Manchester City at White Hart Lane.

Spurs could go into this game five points behind the Champions League spots with two games in-hand.

That means that this game is a must-win one for Andre Villas-Boas and his team. Spurs are now in a battle with Arsenal, Chelsea and Everton in the race for the European spots.

Manchester City has not yet given up hope of winning the Premier League title this season, despite being 13 points behind Manchester United with a game in-hand. City has to win if they are to have any hope of retaining their Premier League crown.

In the later kick-off, Liverpool hosts Chelsea at Anfield. Liverpool’s season is petering out slightly. However, Reds boss Brendan Rodgers will be demanding a strong finish from his team. The Merseysider’s are currently seventh in the table six points behind rivals Everton.

Liverpool has drawn their last two games 0-0 against West Ham and Reading last weekend. Rodgers may look to make changes to try to re-invigorate his team.

Meanwhile Chelsea are third, but are still in a battle to qualify for the Champions League.  Chelsea could be outside the top four by the time this game kicks-off, so a win is vital.

Monday night’s game sees Manchester United host Aston Villa at Old Trafford. If results go Manchester United’s way then the Red Devils could clinch the title against the Midlands.

Villa are just three points clear of the relegation, but could be in the relegation zone by the time this game starts. If Paul Lambert’s team picks up anything then it will be a bonus for the Midlanders.
