There are two crunch games in the Premier League on Sunday and Monday. On Sunday Aston Villa host Liverpool at Villa Park.
The home side could be in the relegation zone by the time the game kicks-off.
The game is a must-win game for Aston Villa. Paul Lambert’s side have won their last two games against relegation rivals Reading and QPR.
Villa will feel confident heading into this clash, especially with Belgium striker Christian Benteke in such good goal scoring form.
The youngster has scored 17 goals in his debut season at Villa Park and scored in both victories over the Villans relegation rivals.
Liverpool’s hopes of finishing in the top four now look very slim, but the Reds will still want to finish as high up in the Premier League table as possible this season. Villa won 3-1 at Anfield earlier this season and Liverpool will be looking to avoid an unwanted double defeat.
Liverpool had won four games on the spin in all competitions prior to a 3-1 defeat against Southampton in their last outing.
On Monday night Fulham host bottom of the table QPR at Craven Cottage. The Hoops will go into the game at least seven points away from Premier League safety. It’s another must-win game for Harry Redknapp’s men.
Rangers’ hopes of Premier League survival this season look bleak. Last time out they lost that vital clash with rivals Aston Villa 3-2. Harry Redknapp’s side had won their previous two games to give themselves a slight chance of staying up.
Fulham meanwhile have moved away from the relegation dogfight with a four match unbeaten run, including a 1-0 win at high-flying Tottenham last time out. Striker Dimitar Berbatov has found the net in the last three games for the Cottagers.
Martin Jol’s team are now nine points clear of the relegation zone and one more win should be enough to confirm their Premier League status for next season.
