At this point of Serie A, it is important to monitor not only the situation of the highest part of the league table, but also the bottom part. In fact, there are 3 teams that will play 5 rounds to determine their future. 2 of them will be relegated in Serie B, together with Pescara, that next season will play for sure in the second division.
Siena, Palermo and Genoa still have the possibility to remain in Serie A, but the situation is really complex. Except for Pescara, that has 22 points, Siena has 30 points and both Palermo and Genoa 29. Despite the relative advantage of Siena, it seems that Iachini’s team has the most difficult programme for the following rounds.
In fact Siena will play against Roma, Catania, Napoli, Fiorentina and AC Milan. All these teams are in the top part of the league table and are fighting to be admitted to Champions League or to Europe League. During this season, Siena has shown that also against big teams could have chances, but the programme is still difficult. Innocent Emeghara and his numerous goals are the hope of Siena; the player is trying to save his team, since January. Moreover, Siena is used to play not to be relegated in Serie B, and this fact could help in managing the pressure.
Differently, Palermo is in a strange situation compared to the previous years. Sannino will count on Miccoli and Ilicic, and hopes that the positive result gained against Catania could increase the morale of his players.
Genoa will have the easiest programme, and should have more chances thanks to a rediscovered Floro Flores, and two decisive strikers as Immobile and Borriello.
The three teams are really different as their future matches, but it is a certainty that only one of them will remain in Serie A next year.
