This summer Italian teams have strengthened themselves with quality players, seeming that the Serie A’s appeal is on the increase again. The only worry is that they are not showing that quality in the preseason friendlies. A clear picture of that are the results Italian sides have managed in the last couple of days.
After losing to Everton on penalties, Juventus went on to lose 3-1 against American side, Los Angeles Galaxy. Inter Milan lost 4-0 against Spanish side Valencia whilst Napoli lost a 1 goal lead to end up losing 3-1 against Portuguese side, FC Porto. Some days ago even AC Milan lost heavily against Manchester City with the scoreline being 5-3 for the blues.
Although Italian sides may be behind in preparation compared to other clubs it is still very worrying to see them lose badly against weaker opponents and with big margins against better sides. In the next couple of weeks we will have a good idea of what the reason is, as the season preparation will be at a more advanced stage results should improve. If results don’t improve even then, than Italian football lovers will have something to worry about.
What’s you opinion about Italian teams losing badly in friendlies?
