Manchester United have stepped up their interest in Robin Van Persie in recent weeks. Even though everyone knows Manchester United’s spending power no one was expecting Arsenal to sell their star striker to their rivals. The transfer is happening as Arsenal stated on their website that they agreed to sell Van Persie for a fee of 30 million euros to the Red Devils. This will be a shocker for the Arsenal fans as they waited many years to finally see the fulfilment of Van Persie’s potential. Last season was the first season in which Van Persie didn’t face any injury problems. Van Persie will be signing a four year contract with Alex Ferguson’s side.
To be honest this might be a great move by Arsenal as a player like Van Persie is a gamble since he is injury prone. In his career the Dutch striker suffered various severe injuries. Now one will have to see if the money Arsenal earned from this transfer will be used to strengthen the squad.
Throughout his career Robin Van Persie played in the Netherlands and England. He kick started his career at Dutch side Feyenoord before moving to Arsenal in 2004. Van Persie is also a Dutch international having represented his country 68 times whilst finding the back of the net 29 times.
