England Transfer News — 18 August 2012

Bologna are believed to be in negotiations with Premier League Southampton about the transfer of winger Gaston Ramirez.

The winger claimed that he was set to move to the Saints, in a deal worth in the region of £12million.

However, the Serie A club are believed to be angry that the Uruguayan has revealed that he is close to a move to the English club. However, Bologna have told the Premier League club that they will not be forced into selling the highly-rated winger for less than £15.8million.

The player’s agent had agreed personal terms with the English club, but are yet to agree a fee with the Saints. It leaves the player in limbo. His club will now need to try to negotiate a fee that would be suitable for everybody, if not then they will have an unhappy player on their hands.

Gaston Ramirez is regarded as one of the brightest young talents in European football. The 21 year-old was outstanding for Bologna and his form attracted the interest of the likes of Italian champions Juventus and Premier League Liverpool.

Liverpool are still believed to be interested in signing the youngster, but he looked all set for a move to the South Coast. The Reds could now re-ignite their interest in the talented winger. He would definitely be a good addition to the Reds squad.

Bologna may say that they won’t be forced into selling the young winger, but I can’t see him staying at the club. I do believe that one way or another he will end up playing in the Premier League this season. Ramirez will be an exciting addition to the Premier League, if he does eventually join Southampton.

Will Gaston Ramirez be heading for the Premier League this summer?
