Italy Serie A — 26 November 2012

Serie A RoundupIt has been a weekend of surprises in the Italian Serie A with the surprises starting on Saturday with a Palermo win in the Sicilian derby against rivals Catania. Although it was a derby match, these games are normally unpredictable, everyone was expecting Catania to win this match as they’ve played some great football this season and managed some impressive results. On the other hand Palermo had a very bad start to the season but last Saturday’s 3-1 win against Catania might mean a new start to their season.

Yesterday there were even more surprising results as in the afternoon Fiorentina could only manage a 2-2 draw against a solid Torino side whilst Atalanta lost at home 1-0 against a Genoa side that was in the relegation zone before this match after a long string of bad results. In the evening, against all expectations, Juventus succumbed to a 1-0 loss against AC Milan. AC Milan put in their performance of the season whilst Juventus played their worst match of the season. The combination of both in addition to a refereeing mistake led to the AC Milan win. AC Milan were lucky as the referee assigned a penalty that didn’t exist as he thought that Marcelo Isla touch the ball with his hand in the penalty box but that wasn’t the case as he had touched the ball with his back.

In the remaining matches Chievo and Siena ended in a 0-0 stalemate, AS Roma managed a 1-0 win against Pescara and Sampdoria edged a 1-0 win against Bologna. For a complete list of results please visit and Serie A fixtures and results section.
