Yesterday was a bad day for Premier League sides in the FA Cup fourth round.

In the days early game Premier League Chelsea could only manage a 2-2 draw with League One Brentford at Griffin Park.

The Bees took the lead on 42 minutes, on-loan Marcello Trotta with a well-taken volley.

The visitors equalised early in the second half through a superb individual effort from Brazilian midfielder Oscar. However, the home side regained the lead on 73 minutes. Substitute Tom Adeyemi was brought down in the penalty area by Ross Turnbull and Harry Forrester made no mistake from spot.

Chelsea equalised with just seven minutes remaining, Fernando Torres curling an effort home from the edge of the penalty area. Chelsea pushed for a winner but their lower leagues opponents held firm.

There was another shock in the FA Cup fourth round, as Championship Leeds defeated Premier League Tottenham 2-1 at Elland Road. The Whites took the lead on 15 minutes, striker Luke Varney with a cool finish.

Just after the break it got even better for Leeds, as Ross McCormack fired the home side into a two goal lead. Clint Dempsey got a goal back for the visitors on 58 minutes, but it proved little more than a consolation.

The shocks just kept coming as in the late kick-off League One Oldham defeated Liverpool 3-2 at Boundary Park. The home side were ahead after just three minutes through a header from Matt Smith.

Luis Suarez equalised for the Premier League side with a superb individual effort on 17 minutes. However, the League One side took the lead just before the break, Smith scoring his second with a close-range tap-in.

Oldham established a two goal lead just after half-time, on-loan full-back Reece Wabara with a bullet header at the back post. The visitors got a goal back with ten minutes remaining through a deflected effort from Joe Allen, but couldn’t find an equaliser, although Steven Gerrard did hit the bar with a rasping effort. Oldham will now host Liverpool’s Merseyside rivals Everton in round five.
