Premier League — 23 November 2012

Premier League QPR have sacked boss Mark Hughes. The Welshman has overseen QPR’s worst start in the top flight ever.

The Hoops have yet to pick up a win this season and are currently bottom of the Premier League table.

Nightmare

Last weekend’s 3-1 home defeat to nearest relegation rivals Southampton proved to be the last straw. If ever there was a game they should have been winning then it was that game. I’m surprised Hughes even lasted this long.

Profile

Mark Hughes was hired by QPR because he had a higher profile than previous boss Neil Warnock. Warnock had helped the club to promotion and was sacked just a few months into their return season to the top flight.

Hughes did prevent the Hoops from being relegated last season, but the team had performed poorly under his guidance for a while, before the team starting their recovery.

Mediocre

To me Mark Hughes is a mediocre football manager. He stated at the end of last season that the club wouldn’t be facing the same situation as last season while he was boss. He was certainly right; this season has seen the club in a far worse situation.

Replacement

QPR will now look for a man that can help the club out of the Premier League relegation zone. Mark Hughes had the chance to bring in a whole host of new players this summer. His signings didn’t work out and the club are now left with a lot of deadwood on the books.

The next QPR boss will have to act fast if he is going to perform the impossible and help the club away from the relegation zone. Current favourite for the post is former-Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp.

The veteran boss is believed to be itching to get back in the game and is a great man-motivator. Whoever comes in though will have a difficult task on their hands clearing up Mark Hughes’ mess.

Who will be the next QPR boss?
