Transfer News — 26 August 2012

Nuri SahinLiverpool have announced the signing of Turkish international Nuri Sahin from Spanish giants Real Madrid. Liverpool announced the news on their official website. They also added that the transfer is subject to Sahin passing a medical test. Sahin will be joining Liverpool on a season long deal with no further details being revealed yet. This is a great coup for Liverpool as there were various teams interested in Sahin with rivals Tottenham and Manchester United also in the hunt. Nuri Sahin admitted that his team mate Xabi Alonso recommended him to move to Liverpool as it would help his development. He also added that he’s looking forward to playing with a world class midfielder as Steven Gerrard.

Nuri Sahin started his career in Germany with Borussia Dortmund first with the reserve side and later on with the first squad. In the meantime he was loaned out to Feyenoord to gain experience. Whilst at Borussia Dortmund he also won the German Bundesliga. Last season he moved to Spanish giants Real Madrid but didn’t get much playing time. Sahin is also a Turkey international having played 31 games and scored 2 goals at senior level.
