Internazionale keeper Julio Cesar has revealed via Facebook that his time at the club is at an end.
The 32 year-old Brazilian international has been at Inter for seven years, after joining the club from fellow Italian side Chievo in 2005.
Leaving
The Brazilian wrote on his Facebook page: “ These have been seven really beautiful years and plenty of them successful,”
“ But in a few days my adventure with Inter will be at an end. I thank all of you fans for the support you gave me in this time and I wish you every happiness in the future.
Outstanding
At the peak of his game Julio Cesar was considered one of the best goalkeepers in the world game. As Inter number one he helped the club dominate Serie A for a number of years and won the Scudetto fives (four if you ask Juventus fans) with the Nerazzurri.
Decline
The last few years have seen Cesar’s form decline and he has made several high profile mistakes, as Inter have struggled to find top form in both in Serie A and in Europe. At 32 though he still has plenty to offer even the biggest of clubs.
Linked
The Brazilian international is being linked with a move to the Premier League with Tottenham. Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas knows Cesar well from his time on the backroom at Inter, under Jose Mourinho.
Tottenham’s current number one is veteran American Brad Friedel, who is now 41. Villas-Boas is actively looking for alternatives to the former-Villa and Blackburn stopper. Julio Cesar could prove an ideal signing.
Options
I’m sure that Julio Cesar will be flooded with offers once the news gets out that he is leaving Inter. Cesar is still a very good keeper and it definitely wouldn’t surprise me if he signed for another major European club this summer.
Who will sign Julio Cesar this summer?
