Transfer News — 13 January 2012
Everton have announced the signing of Manchester United and Ireland midfielder Darron Gibson for an undisclosed fee. Darron Gibson was considered a bright prospect at Manchester United but failed to reach expectations. Should Gibson start to fulfil expectations he would be a great signing for Everton. Everton have been trying to sign Gibson since last summer but they didn’t manage then as Man Utd lacked midfielders.
Gibson joined Manchester United in 2004 and made his professional debut in 2005. Manchester United loaned him out twice, at Royal Antwerp and Wolverhampton Wanderers. He played his first international match with the Republic of Ireland in 2007. Since his debut he played 17 matches and scored a goal for Ireland.
