After the defeat in Barcelona, AC Milan had the confirmation that there are still elements to change to be prepared for an important presence in Europe. In fact, currently the team has numerous young players that are living their first experiences in the international environment, while other players have experience, but not enough motivation to gain results against strong teams as Barcelona.
According to Allegri, this first experience in Champions League could prepare Niang, De Sciglio and El Shaarawy for a victorious future. However, the problem cannot be reduced only to a lack of experience, but there are strategic problems, that Galliani should solve during the summer transfer market.
First of all, the biggest problem is the midfield. Except for Montolivo, the other players have not shown enough quality to compete on the international stage: Ambrosini probably due to his age, Muntari due to his physical condition, Flamini and Nocerino due to the absence of a right mental attitude. It is desiderable the return of Nigel De Jong for next season, together with a new arrival.
Secondly, the defense has problems: Zapata and Mexes are good players, but in every match they tend to do at least a mistake that could provoke the defeat of AC Milan. Salomon could become an alternative, but he is still an uncertainty. Also the goalkeeper does not instill confidence and the confirmation of Abbiati is dubious. Perin may be the perfect substitute, even if Galliani is interested also in the Dutch Krul.
The attack seems the best part. Next season Balotelli will be able to play in Champions League together with El Shaarawy, Pazzini and Niang. The attack will probably lose Robinho, destination Santos, and Bojan Krkic that often remains on the bench.
