Newcastle have agreed a fee with Lyon for French international striker Bafetimbi Gomis. The Magpies had previously had a bid of around £6.9million turned down by the Ligue One club, but it seems that the two have now reached a compromise.

It is thought that the deal could be concluded over the weekend, if personal terms can be agreed. Gomis has been the Magpies number transfer target throughout the summer.

According to Sky Sports, Liverpool have made a £20million bid for Atletico Madrid forward Diego Costa. The Brazilian international found the net ten times in La Liga for Atleti last season and 20 in all competitions.

It now seems that Costa is Reds boss Brendan Rodgers latest transfer target. There is still speculation about the future of star forward Luis Suarez, which does not seem to be going away.
