Spain showed why is the actual world champion with a valuable victory (0-1) against the ‘bleus’ which gives them back, the first place in the standings of their Group and leaves Vicente del Bosque´s team in a good position to achieve the direct ticket to Brazil.

Spain overcame France, which settled to defend in the first half and was surprised by a goal from Pedro that left them incapable of reaction.

Spain comes again to lead the group and dominates France again; as in the last European Championship, and in the last friendly at the French Stadium, the Spain national team walked away with the victory.

Spain made a very orthodox first half. Stopped the initial attacks from France and their 80,000 fans; it took 10 minutes to seize the control of the match, and gradually gained in depth. Xavi Hernandez missed the best chance at five minutes throughout the first period, which would open the can.

The move was initiated between lines; the death pass was caught by Xavi, whose shot escaped over the French goal. The shock marked the change of party rules.

Xavi and Villa create some danger goal attempts in the 34 min, while France was decided to use the counterattack as the only recourse. While Spain was having their best minutes, Pedro claimed a penalty from the French goalkeeper, and fangered the entire Spanish team and made Xavi took a yellow for the protests.

France could be ahead in the score with Benzema assisted by Jallet and especially in a cross from Valbuena, where Ribéry forced Valdes to make a dramatic intervention. After the break, France was something above and left more holes in his behind. Therefore, a situation tooked by Monreal to penetrate the left side, put a ball into the small area where Pedro managed to finish the very important goal. This destabilized the ‘bleus’ which for a few minutes were at Spain´s mercy, especially with the entry of Jesus Navas, who surprised Evra with his speed and put a good ball to Iniesta that Lloris turned over the crossbar.
