<\/a>Legendary Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson will retire at the end of the season and move into the director\u2019s box at Old Trafford.<\/p>\nThe Scot is the longest serving manager in the top flight, having been the United boss for an incredible 26 years.<\/p>\n
Successful<\/b><\/p>\n
In those years United have claimed 13 Premier League titles and 2 Champions League titles, not to mention numerous FA Cup\u2019s and League Cups. No manager in the history of the English game has been so successful.<\/p>\n
Replacements<\/b><\/p>\n
Ferguson will be a hard man to replace and two names have emerged as the favourites for his job. Real Madrid\u2019s Jose Mourinho and Everton\u2019s David Moyes are the men currently believed to be at the top of United\u2019s wanted list.<\/p>\n
Stability<\/b><\/p>\n
David Moyes has brought stability to Everton in his 11 years in charge on Merseyside. When he arrived the club were staring relegation in the face, but in recent years, the club have been closer to the top than the bottom of the Premier League.<\/p>\n
Two things that may count against the Scot is his lack of experience in European football and the fact he has yet to claim silverware as a boss.<\/p>\n
Winner<\/b><\/p>\n
Jose Mourinho is an undoubted winner, but he brings with him controversy. League titles in Portugal, England, Italy and Spain and two Champions League titles prove that he is a winner, but he courts controversy.<\/p>\n
Manchester united is not a club that likes to attract controversy and Mourinho\u2019s appointment may attract unwanted attention. Mourinho could also return to former-club Chelsea this summer.<\/p>\n
Hard<\/b><\/p>\n
Whoever comes in to replace Sir Alex has a hard job on their hands keeping the club at the same level. For years United have had a consistency that few teams have had in the major European leagues.<\/p>\n
It certainly is an end of an era for Manchester United. Good luck to Sir Alex in his directorial role at United and good luck with your future endeavours.<\/p>\n
