In the first match, that was played at 18:00, the derby match between Parma and Bologna ended 1-1. Prior to the match Parma were clear favorites for the 3 points but Bologna put on display a sturdy performance to hold on to a very important point. After only 10 minutes of playtime Bologna surprised Parma as they took the lead thanks to an inspired Panagiotis Kone. Their lead didn’t last very long as only 13 minutes later Antonio Cassano leveled the scoreline. The match became very nervous as nine yellow cards were given and Bologna ended the match in 10 following 2 yellow cards given to Frederik Sørensen. Frederik Sørensen’s suspension left Bologna with a man down for almost 40 minutes but Parma couldn’t take advantage.

In the other match, Genoa and Torino played an entertaining match that ended in a 1-1 draw. Omar El Kaddouri opened the score for Torino in the 7th minute. Genoa stayed calm and kept on playing their game. They were rewarded in the 69th minute as Davide Biondini leveled the match. After the equalizer both sides were more careful in not conceded another goal rather than pushing for a winning goal.

Xabi Alonso eyeing a move away from Madrid https://footballcosmos.com/xabi-alonso-eyeing-a-move-away-from-madrid-4849/ https://footballcosmos.com/xabi-alonso-eyeing-a-move-away-from-madrid-4849/#respond Wed, 30 Oct 2013 22:06:39 +0000 http://footballcosmos.com/?p=4849 Xabi AlonsoXabi Alonso’s future is very uncertain as his contract will expire next summer and that combined with the limited playing time he is getting is convincing him that a move away from Madrid could be his best option. Xabi Alonso joined Real Madrid from Liverpool in 2009. At Real Madrid he became a mainstay and flourished under the guidance of Jose Mourinho. Last summer Jose Mourinho left Real Madrid to rejoin Chelsea. Xabi Alonso couldn’t start the season as he was injured but now that he has recovered new Real Madrid manager, Carlo Ancelotti, is preferring Illarramendi to him.

Xabi Alonso is attracting the interest of several clubs with Chelsea and Juventus topping the list of suitors. At Chelsea, Xabi Alonso, would be reunited with Portuguese manager, Jose Mourinho, a manager that has trust in him. On the other hand Juventus is a side that has been interested in him for several years. Juventus want to sign Xabi Alonso as a replacement for the most probably departing Andrea Pirlo. They see him as the ideal replacement for Pirlo as he has the quality and experience required to fill in the shoes of the Italian midfielder. Should he join Juventus he would be handed the keys of the Juventus midfield and would be pivotal to the teams success. A difference between the two sides is that Chelsea are interested in signing Alonso in January whilst Juventus would prefer to wait till next summer to sign him on a free transfer. Should Alonso keep on spending most of his time on the bench, with the World Cup happening next summer, he may choose to push for a move in January to avoid missing out on a World Cup call.

Inter Milan vs Juventus Kick Off Time, Preview & Prediction https://footballcosmos.com/inter-milan-vs-juventus-kick-off-time-preview-prediction-4843/ https://footballcosmos.com/inter-milan-vs-juventus-kick-off-time-preview-prediction-4843/#respond Fri, 13 Sep 2013 18:15:43 +0000 http://footballcosmos.com/?p=4843 Inter Milan JuventusTomorrow at 18:00 local time at San Siro Inter Milan will face Italian champions Juventus. This is considered as one of the best matches of the season, so much that it is referred to as the derby of Italy. The match should be an interesting one as both sides started the season on a good note as they won their first two league matches. Inter Milan are recovering from a bad season as they only finished ninth last season but the change in manager seems to have impacted positively on the side. On the other hand Juventus are a solid side that that won that last two championships.

Both sides are very eager to win this match with Inter Milan wanting to make a statement that they are title challengers whilst Juventus want to reaffirm their supremacy. Inter Milan will be missing their key striker, Diego Milito, as although he has finally recovered from his injury he is still not match fit. On the other side, apart frm the long term injured Caludio Marchisio, it seemed that Barzagli and Vucinic were also going to miss tomorrow’s clash but both players have recovered ahead of expectations and could be fielded tomorrow. It will be interesting to see how Tevez and Campagnaro will try to outperform each other. Tevez will try to add to his goal tally whilst Campagnaro will try to show the defensive solidity he showed in the first two matches.

We believe that Inter Milan vs Juventus will be a great match but the quality of the Juventus first team will allow them to win the match comfortably. We forecast a Juventus win with a 2 goal difference between the sides.

Football Cosmos Prediction: Inter Milan 1 Juventus 2

Italy vs Bulgaria Kick Off Time, Preview and Prediction https://footballcosmos.com/italy-vs-bulgaria-kick-off-time-preview-and-prediction-4837/ https://footballcosmos.com/italy-vs-bulgaria-kick-off-time-preview-and-prediction-4837/#respond Fri, 06 Sep 2013 17:00:16 +0000 http://footballcosmos.com/?p=4837 Italy Bulgaria World Cup QualifierToday at 20.45 local time Italy will be facing Bulgaria in a Group B World Cup qualification match. This is an important match for both sides as the group matches are soon coming to an end and none of them have achieved qualification yet. Italy are currently leading the group with 14 points, 4 points clear off second placed Bulgaria. Italy need to win today to solidify their position and to nearly guarantee the top spot of the group. On the other hand Bulgaria need to win both to close their gap from Italy but also to stay second in the group as Czech Republic are just a match away from them.

Italy are clear favorites to win but as what happened in the previous encounter between these two sides, every match has its own story. In the last match between them, Italy and Bulgaria ended in a 2-2 draw even though Italy were clear favorites to win the match. Both sides haven’t lost a match yet as Italy drew two matches whilst Bulgaria drew four. At Football Cosmos, we believe that today’s match will be a balanced one with lack of goal scoring opportunities. Our prediction is that the match will end 1-1.

Football Cosmos Prediction: Italy 1 Bulgaria 1

Liverpool strengthen their squad https://footballcosmos.com/liverpool-strengthen-their-squad-4834/ https://footballcosmos.com/liverpool-strengthen-their-squad-4834/#respond Tue, 03 Sep 2013 20:33:04 +0000 http://footballcosmos.com/?p=4834 Liverpool StrengthenIn recent years Liverpool have disappointed both in terms of performances and results but it seems that this season things might change. They made a perfect start to the season by winning their first three Premier League matches whilst not conceding a goal. That did not halt their ambitions as they remained very active in the transfer market. In the dying moments of the transfer window Liverpool made three quality signings that bolster their defensive line and add more quality to their attacking line.

The most expensive of these signings was Mamadou Sakho from Paris Saint Germain. He decided to leave PSG as he wasn’t going to get much playing time due to the recent signing of Marquinhos. Sakho will bring strength and steel to the reds defense. He can form a great partnership with any of the other Liverpool central defenders. Another signing was that of young defender Tiago Ilori from Portuguese side Sporting Lisbon. Ilori is considered by many critics as one of the hottest prospects in Portuguese football. At Liverpool he will be in the right place to develop into a quality player as he will be training along experienced players such as Kolo Toure. The last signing of the transfer window was that of Victor Moses. They signing Moses on a season long loan deal from their rivals Chelsea. Moses brings with him speed, strength and quality that is very much needed to Liverpool’s attacking line.

Will Liverpool finish in the top 4?

Juventus make official bid for Nani https://footballcosmos.com/juventus-make-official-bid-for-nani-4807/ https://footballcosmos.com/juventus-make-official-bid-for-nani-4807/#respond Tue, 27 Aug 2013 16:19:30 +0000 http://footballcosmos.com/?p=4807 Nani Manchester United JuventusNani has been at the center of transfer speculation all summer as he is very likely to leave Manchester United in this transfer window. Transfer speculation was fueled further as new manager, David Moyes, preferred to field Valencia rather than Nani. In recent weeks, rumors of Juventus being interested in Nani have intensified and it seems that they had some fundamentals its being reported that Juventus have made an official bid of 13 million euros for Nani. It has to be seen if Manchester United will accept the bid or not but they are currently under pressure because Nani has only a year left on his contract and the Portuguese international made it clear that he does not want to renew it.

Juventus have been interested in Nani for several years as their coach, Antonio Conte, is a big fan of the Portuguese winger. He would be a perfect addition to the 4-3-3 formation that Conte is planning to use this season. Should Juventus manage to sign Nani, the Portuguese would be another great addition to their squad following summer signings Tevez, Llorente and Ogbonna. Should the bianconeri miss out on Nani they will still pursue their hunt for a winger.

Nani joined Manchester United in 2007 from Portuguese side Sporting Lisbon. At Manchester United he played more than 130 matches and found the back of the net 26 times. He has also represented Portugal at several levels. He represented Portugal at U-21 level 10 times and score a goal whilst he played in the senior side 62 times and scored 13 goals.

Manchester United and Chelsea level it out https://footballcosmos.com/manchester-united-and-chelsea-level-it-out-4802/ https://footballcosmos.com/manchester-united-and-chelsea-level-it-out-4802/#respond Tue, 27 Aug 2013 14:32:27 +0000 http://footballcosmos.com/?p=4802 Manchester United Chelsea Premier LeagueYesterday two giants of English football faced each other as Manchester United faced Chelsea at Old Trafford. The expectations before the match were very high as everyone was keen to see how the tactical battle between Mourinho and Moyes would end. Expectations were betrayed as the match ended 0-0 with not many chances being created during the match. The defensive lines of both teams limited the opposing attacking force.

The main highlight of the match was when it was confirmed that Rooney was playing for Manchester United. Following the constant transfer rumors linking the England international to Chelsea many were unsure if Moyes would field Rooney. He did field him as a second striker behind Van Persie. Rooney didn’t appear too concerned about the rumors as he played a good match full of determination. The match started with Manchester United trying to be the dangerous side whilst Chelsea limiting their attacks and being ready to hit back with quick counter attacks. As the match progressed Chelsea kept being more careful in not conceding rather than trying to score. On a good note the match was a fair one with the distribution of cards reflecting that as only two yellow cards were shown.

Yesterday’s result was good for Chelsea as they played in their enemies den whilst slightly disappointing for Manchester United as they were looking to improve their form against Mourinho’s Chelsea. That said, this result allows both sides to continue their league run with optimism.
