Everton confirmed that they reached an economic agreement with Manchester City for their 21 year old midfielder Jack Rodwell. Rodwell is regarded as one of the best prospects of English football, rumours of him leaving Everton were around for several years. It was well known that Manchester United were very keen on the youngster but their rivals ended up winning the race for Rodwell’s signature. Rodwell will join Manchester City for a fee of 15 million sterling that may rise to 18 million sterling. He signed a 5 year contract with City.

Rodwell is a versatile player that may play both as a defender and a midfielder. Rodwell started his professional career at Everton. In 5 years he played more than 100 games. He has also represented England at various junior levels and at senior level. He played twice for England at senior level without finding the back of the net.
